Monmouth cannabis farm: police ‘left bag behind’
Wednesday, 24 February 2010
Dustbin bag full of cannabis leaves salvaged by local youths
IN AN EXTRAORDINARY TWIST to last week’s lead story, the Monmouthshire Beacon has learned that police officers who raided the cannabis farm at former restaurant CB Jo may have neglected to remove all the plants from the premises. The raid, which was carried out at the Monnow Street address on the afternoon of Sunday 14th February, following tip-offs from members of the public, revealed cannabis production on an almost industrial scale. All four floors of the building, as well as the cellar, had been turned into a farm for the plant, with a sizeable and expensive installation of hydroponic equipment. Police officers seized 500 cannabis plants in various stages of development, and 25 to 30 bags of dried cannabis leaves. They also discovered a substantial amount of hard cash.
