Local man scarred in revenge attack

Wednesday, 27 January 2010

A MONMOUTH MAN has been left with a visible dent in his head after being assaulted in a revenge attack in the centre of Monmouth, Cardiff Crown Court heard last Friday.
Michael Downs, 20, now has a “permanent blemish”, said Judge Philip Richards, and is continually self-conscious about about his appearance.
Ieuan Skipp, a 20-year-old labourer of Callow Hill Farm, Monmouth (and formerly of Wyesham Avenue, Monmouth), pleaded guilty to a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm.
He was sentenced to 34 weeks in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid community work. He was also ordered to pay his victim £600 in compensation, and prosecution costs of £200.
The judge said, “Regard this as very much your last chance. Make sure you don’t stand in that dock again.”
